Growth of the ETF Market and Surge in Samsung Group ETF

The significant growth of the public offering fund market last year was largely due to focused interest in ETFs, resulting in a 13% increase in net income for asset management companies. According to the Financial Supervisory Service, the provisional operating assets of the asset management industry rose by 11.7% year-on-year to 1,656 trillion KRW. An increase in fund custody volume and investment advisory contracts is attributed to the public fund's addition of 83 trillion KRW, marking the highest record within the past decade. Various fund types showed significant growth in both public and private funds. The increase in earnings was primarily driven by a rise in fee income.
Recently, the net assets of the 'TIGER Samsung Group Fundamental' ETF surged by 211% in one month, reaching 181.1 billion KRW, fueled by expectations of semiconductor industry improvement. Foreign investors bought large quantities of Samsung Electronics, prompting brokerage houses to raise their target stock prices for Samsung Electronics. For instance, NH Investment & Securities and KB Securities set their target prices at 79,000 KRW and 82,000 KRW, respectively. Within Samsung Electronics, there are optimistic projections of performance improvements starting from the first quarter, underscoring a positive outlook for the future.
