ETF Innovation and Investment Strategies in Seoul
Samsung Asset Management plans to launch the 'KODEX S&P500 Covered Call ETF,' which tracks the S&P 500 Index and sells options when the Volatility Index (VIX) is high to generate additional income. The strategy involves making decisions based on the daily volatility of the VIX and effectively responding to contango situations in VIX futures. This ETF offers monthly dividends, with quarterly dividends paid when additional income is earned.
At the 'Money Trend 2025' event in Seoul, various ETF investment strategies were discussed. Nam-ki Kim, CEO of Mirae Asset Global Investments, emphasized the importance of diversification and recommended ETFs like the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 for long-term investments. Dong-ho Park, CEO of Park Gomhee TV, highlighted the significance of low fees and long-term investing, advocating the strategic use of dividends and asset allocation based on account type.
The event also highlighted growing interest in the defense sector due to the US-China rivalry and heightened geopolitical tensions. Young-gon Lee, head of the research center at Toss Securities, identified the defense sector as a promising investment field in the latter half of the year. Major banks and securities firms offered tailored asset consulting to participants, aiming to increase interest in ETFs.
