Analysis of Investment Trends in Gold-Related ETFs and Inverse Products

Amid increasing risks in the Middle East region, global market volatility has intensified, leading individual investors to turn their attention to gold-related ETFs, perceived as safe assets. The ACE KRX Gold Spot ETF reported a 3.21% return over the past month, with individual investors buying 10 billion won worth, indicating robust trading activity. Additionally, the KODEX Gold Futures (H) and TIGER Gold Futures (H) ETFs gained popularity, with returns of 4.40% and 4.27%, respectively. Experts suggest that the potential for U.S. Federal Reserve interest rate cuts and strong demand for gold from India and China could further fuel the rise in gold prices.
From September 24 to 30, individual investors profited from inverse products and subsequently moved to realize their gains. This trend was amplified by the downturn in the KOSPI and KOSDAQ indices and notable stock price declines in major companies such as Samsung Electronics. There is a noticeable shift towards the U.S. market, driven by uncertainties surrounding interest rate cuts and a decrease in stock market trading, casting a cloud over domestic market forecasts. Anticipating increased volatility in the domestic market, strategic investment measures are necessary.
