Korean Retail Investors Increasingly Target High-Risk Leveraged ETFs Abroad
Korean retail investors are rapidly increasing their investments in high-risk leveraged Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) issued overseas. Particular attention has been drawn to products such as the 'DIREXION DAILY TSLA BULL 2X SHARES,' which leverages Tesla stocks twofold, and the 'DIREXION DAILY SEMICONDUCTORS BULL 3X SHS ETF,' which tracks semiconductor indices threefold. While these ETFs offer the opportunity for high returns, they also carry substantial volatility and risk, necessitating cautious investment approaches. In addition, Korean investors are making significant inroads into the quantum computing sector in the U.S. Stocks from companies like IonQ have seen considerable price increases, with a significant percentage of shares held by Korean investors. This trend is partly attributed to domestic restrictions on extremely high-risk ETFs and the increased accessibility to foreign stock markets. Nonetheless, such high-risk investments come with the prospects of significant losses, urging investors to proceed with greater caution.
