Samsung's KODEX 200 Target Weekly Covered Call ETF Gains Spotlight with High Returns

Samsung Asset Management's KODEX 200 Target Weekly Covered Call ETF is attracting considerable attention from investors this year. The ETF has recorded an impressive year-to-date return of 57.9%, ranking first among 49 domestically listed covered call ETFs. Its primary strategy involves writing weekly call options based on the KOSPI 200 index, generating an annual option premium income of approximately 15%.
The total distribution stands at 17% annually, which includes both the option premium income as well as around a 2% dividend yield. This stable income structure is particularly appealing to high-net-worth investors, especially as the option premium income is tax-exempt, offering a favorable tax advantage.
Within just 11 months of listing, cumulative net buying by personal investors has surpassed 1.0656 trillion KRW, and the net assets have reached 1.507 trillion KRW. This success underscores the strategy's effectiveness in targeting investors seeking stable returns even in highly volatile market conditions.
