Korean Semiconductor ETFs See Soaring Asset Growth and Investor Demand
NH-Amundi Asset Management's 'HANARO Fn K-Semiconductor ETF' has recently surpassed KRW 1.7 trillion in total net assets, drawing significant attention from investors. The ETF invests in 20 major Korean semiconductor companies, including industry leaders Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, and has achieved a remarkable 54.17% return year-to-date, with a six-month return of 128.69%. The surge in global semiconductor demand, coupled with ongoing supply shortages, has greatly improved investor sentiment. In addition, AI infrastructure expansion and Elon Musk's announcement of investment in Terafab have further heightened long-term growth expectations for the semiconductor industry.
Meanwhile, Mirae Asset's 'TIGER Semiconductor TOP10 ETF' has also become a favorite among individual investors. The fund allocates 23.9% and 30.0% to Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, respectively, and has seen net cumulative individual investor inflows surpass KRW 2 trillion. With KRW 1.6 trillion in new inflows this year alone, its net asset value has reached KRW 8.8353 trillion, making it the largest thematic equity ETF on the Korean market. Industry experts cite expanded investment across the semiconductor value chain and prospects for improved corporate performance as core drivers of ETF growth.
