ETF Investment Trends Amid Rising Volatility

The U.S. stock market is experiencing significant volatility due to tariff threats from President Donald Trump. Institutional investors are selling off U.S.-related ETFs, particularly the TIGER U.S. S&P500, amidst this uncertainty. As the Nasdaq index falls sharply, the desire for profit-taking has grown. However, individual investors view this decline as a buying opportunity and are actively purchasing U.S. stock-related ETFs.
Domestic individual investors are focusing on the S&P500 and Nasdaq indices as key investment venues, with substantial net purchases recorded in ETFs like 'TIGER U.S. S&P500' and 'KODEX U.S. S&P500'. Particularly, individual investors are expanding their purchase scale, indicating potential long-term investment strategies. The interest in higher-risk products such as leveraged ETFs remains as well.
In contrast, with the rising uncertainty in the domestic stock market, products such as KODEX Kosdaq150 Leverage and KODEX Leverage have been heavily sold by individual investors. They prefer safer index-based ETFs, which aligns with their strategy to seize low-price buying opportunities amid the U.S. market decline.
Moreover, ETFs offering short-term interest income are gaining attention. The market volatility has increased due to Trump's tariff imposition, prompting concerns over tariff wars with Canada and Mexico that affect investor sentiment. In this context, Samsung Asset Management's 'KODEX Money Market Active' has attracted significant investments, and this trend is expected to continue for the foreseeable future.
