AI Semiconductor-Driven US Nasdaq ETFs Outperform, Global Financial Sector Shifts
US active Nasdaq exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have outperformed the market, driven by a shift from traditional big tech to AI infrastructure and semiconductor stocks. In particular, the 'KoAct US Nasdaq Growth Active' ETF and 'TIME US Nasdaq 100 Active' ETF posted impressive year-to-date returns of 64.62% and 60.60%, respectively, far surpassing the Nasdaq 100 Index's 16.51%. This underscores a rapid reallocation of capital within the Nasdaq, primarily favoring AI-related and semiconductor companies.
Globally, the financial spotlight is also on AI and chipmakers. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang joined former US President Donald Trump’s China visit, boosting optimism about AI chip supply chains. US ETFs investing in Korea’s Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix have drawn $6 billion in short order, signaling intensified investor focus. In Japan, SoftBank achieved record corporate profits, largely attributed to its OpenAI investment, reflecting the strong performance of AI-focused firms. Meanwhile, AI companies have ramped up lobbying efforts in Washington, while Walmart is implementing organizational restructuring and role reassignments through advanced AI integration, signaling widespread enterprise adoption of artificial intelligence.
