Success Stories of Mirae Asset's TIGER and Global X ETFs
Mirae Asset Management's TIGER ETF has gained significant popularity among individual investors in the Korean ETF market, maintaining the top spot in personal market share for 45 consecutive months. By the end of July, individual investors' holdings amounted to 28.9 trillion KRW, accounting for 41.8% of the total market. Particularly, there has been a surge in interest in overseas equity and thematic ETFs, pushing the total individual net purchases to exceed 4 trillion KRW. The TIGER U.S. S&P500 ETF recorded the highest net purchase among these in the first half of the year. Mirae Asset's U.S. subsidiary, Global X, reported remarkable performance with its Global X Defense Tech (SHLD) ETF, boasting a 65.3% return since the start of the year. This ETF stands out by incorporating 35% European companies, delivering double the returns compared to other defense ETFs. It also invests in next-generation defense stocks and AI-based data analytics firm Palantir, selecting stocks based on revenue related to defense technology. Mirae Asset is focusing on developing 'killer products' leveraging its global network, recently launching an AI-based corporate bond ETF as part of its innovative product strategy.
