Domestic High Dividend ETF Market Booms amid Growing Investor Interest
The total net assets of domestic equity high dividend exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have surpassed 5 trillion won. This growth appears to be fueled by increasing interest from investors as the introduction of separate taxation on dividend income approaches. Recently launched high dividend ETFs have recorded returns of nearly 23% over the past month, enhancing their attractiveness to investors. Lee Jong-hoon, head of the ETF Management Division at Korea Investment Trust Management, emphasized that such performance can vary greatly depending on the stocks included in the ETF and their proportions. Success is contingent on the inclusion of companies with strong fundamentals, suggesting that investors must consider these factors when selecting ETFs. Asset management companies are responding to market demands by launching new products to cater to diverse investor needs.
