ETF Market Trends: Oil Surge, Weakness in Semiconductor Themes, and Capital Flows
On the 9th, oil-related ETFs surged in the market, with TIGER Oil Futures Enhanced(H) posting the highest daily return at 7.42%. This rally was led by increased demand following the rise in global oil prices. In contrast, semiconductor and AI-themed ETFs, which had previously shown strong performance, experienced declines due to profit-taking, with TIGER Semiconductor TOP10 Leveraged dropping 5.87%.
From a capital flow perspective, inflows were concentrated in safe haven ETFs such as TIGER CD Interest Rate Investment KIS (Synthetic), while significant outflows of 480.4 billion KRW were recorded in KODEX Leverage, indicating a shift toward risk aversion. Furthermore, market tracker FnGuide reported that the total net assets of ETFs tracked by its indices surpassed 55 trillion KRW. Notably, TIGER Semiconductor TOP10 became the first to exceed 10 trillion KRW in assets under management, boosted by strength in the semiconductor and AI sectors. Amid ongoing geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainty, investors are increasingly focusing on ETFs with large export exposure, such as those related to semiconductors, defense, and shipbuilding, revealing distinct capital reallocations among market themes.
