Rapid Growth and Investor Trends in Korea's ETF Market
The Korean Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) market is approaching a net asset value of 200 trillion won, driven by the active participation of individual investors. These investors are opting for ETFs due to their lack of sales fees and low management costs, while channeling funds into blue-chip stocks and growth themes, capturing significant attention. ETFs are gaining trust through high liquidity and daily information disclosure, drawing ongoing interest from individual investors. As of now, the net assets of the Korean ETF market exceed 197 trillion won, with substantial growth potential attributed to increasing investment demand from sectors including retirement pensions. The domestic market currently lists 987 ETF products, with major asset management firms strengthening their brands and revising strategies. Samsung Asset Management and Mirae Asset Global Investments are taking the lead in the market, and the intense competition among them is making the market increasingly dynamic.
