Emerging ETF Themes: Aerospace, Nuclear, and Export Industries Gain Attention
Hana Asset Management held a seminar on '2026 Survival Investment Strategies', highlighting next-generation thematic ETFs such as aerospace technology, physical silver, and Kospi active strategies. The '1Q US Aerospace Tech ETF' is noted as Korea’s largest aerospace ETF and plans to immediately include SpaceX upon its IPO. Additionally, the forthcoming '1Q Silver Active ETF' will become Korea’s first physical silver ETF, also eligible for retirement pension accounts, which is anticipated to broaden the investor base. The '1Q 200 Active ETF' targets returns exceeding the Kospi200 with ultra-low fees, aiming for enhanced competitiveness. With growing power demand due to AI proliferation, nuclear-related stocks are gaining momentum, but the commercialization of small modular reactors (SMR) is only expected after 2030, implying a lag in direct profit improvement. This gap has led to a focus on solar energy and energy storage systems (ESS), and a balanced portfolio across various power generation sectors is recommended. Adjusting allocations through ETFs is suggested as an effective investment strategy, allowing investors to diversify exposures to multiple themes. Export industries have also emerged as a prominent ETF investment theme. Following Samsung Active Asset Management, Korea Investment Trust Management plans to list the ACE K Export Core TOP10 Industry Active ETF, selecting ten leading sectors among fourteen export-heavy industries such as semiconductors and shipbuilding. The ETF is designed to reflect Korea’s export-driven market structure and addresses the challenges of thematic investing by integrating comprehensive analysis of financials and market dominance in its constituent stock selection.
