Semiconductor ETF Market Sees Rapid Growth Amid AI Expansion
Samsung Active Asset Management has launched the 'KoAct Global AI Memory Semiconductor Active' ETF, which invests broadly across the global memory semiconductor value chain. This ETF includes key players like Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and Micron, as well as NAND flash and semiconductor materials and equipment companies. The explosive growth of the AI market is rapidly driving up memory demand and exacerbating supply shortages, boosting earnings prospects for memory-related companies. Additionally, strong growth in next-generation memory technologies and expanding demand for server DRAM (DDR5) and enterprise SSDs, fueled by AI inference markets, are expected to be key tailwinds.
Meanwhile, Shinhan Asset Management’s 'SOL AI Semiconductor TOP2 Plus ETF' surpassed KRW 350 billion in net assets within three weeks of listing, reflecting focused investor flows into leading domestic semiconductor stocks, notably SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics, supported by inflows from pension and institutional investors. Hana Asset Management has newly listed two ETFs focused on Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, offering both equity-only and equity-bond hybrid versions to diversify investor options. Notably, the underlying index for one product is calculated by NICE P&I, increasing the weight of major semiconductor stocks and responding to the thematic growth trend in the ETF market.
