Samsung Asset Management's Transition of Overseas ETFs and Implications
Samsung Asset Management's Transition of Overseas ETFs and Implications
Samsung Asset Management has announced the conversion of KODEX US S&P500TR and KODEX US NASDAQ100TR into quarterly distribution-type ETFs. This move is in compliance with the Ministry of Economy and Finance's tax law amendments, which require interest and dividend income to be settled and distributed at least once a year. The first distribution payment is scheduled for May 7 this year, and subsequent distributions will occur at the end of January, April, July, and October annually. This transformation aims to end the automatic reinvestment of dividends, enhance income transparency, and facilitate investors' understanding with the new distribution framework. Furthermore, this transition entails the removal of the 'TR' designation from the ETF product names, while maintaining the total expense ratio at 0.0099%. These measures are assessed as efforts to mitigate uncertainties in the domestic and international economic environment and provide clear information to investors. The changes are deemed to have a positive impact on the domestic ETF market and represent a significant shift in formulating investment strategies. The ETF market will offer investors a more efficient and transparent investment approach.
