Investment Trends of Korean Individual Investors and Shinhan Asset Management in ETFs
As global market volatility increases, Korean individual investors, known as 'Seohak ants', are turning their attention to dividend ETFs, which provide stable returns. A prime example is the Schwab U.S. Dividend Equity ETF (SCHD), benchmarked against the Dow Jones U.S. Dividend 100 Index. It focuses on financials, healthcare, and consumer staples, recording a dividend yield of approximately 3.5% over the past year. SCHD selects stocks considering sustainability and financial stability, distributing dividends quarterly. Notably, SCHD plans a 3-for-1 stock split on October 10 to enhance liquidity. Meanwhile, Shinhan Asset Management plans to list two ETFs on the Korean Stock Exchange: 'SOL U.S. Dividend Dow Jones TR' and 'SOL 26-12 Corporate Bond (AA-Above) Active'. 'SOL U.S. Dividend Dow Jones TR' invests in companies paying dividends for at least ten consecutive years, focusing on stable stock volatility and acts as a passive ETF. In contrast, 'SOL 26-12 Corporate Bond (AA-Above) Active' targets high-credit-rating corporate bonds, aiming for reliability and reasonable returns. These offerings are expected to provide investors with more diverse dividend and bond investment options.
