Surge in US Stocks: ETF and Bond Investment Strategies

The recent rebound in the New York stock market has highlighted the performance of favorite stocks among Korean individual investors, known as 'Seohak ants.' Notably, the 'ACE American Equity Bestseller' ETF from Korea Investment Trust Management Co. has surged by 42.32% from its lowest point, outperforming ETFs that track the S&P 500 index. This ETF includes major IT companies such as Tesla and Palantir in its portfolio. Similarly, Samsung Asset Management's 'KODEX US Seohak Ants' ETF has shown a 39.8% increase, with Tesla and Nvidia contributing significantly to its growth. Experts believe that the easing of US-China trade tensions has revived the investment sentiment for tech stocks.
In the bond investment market, significant developments are also being noted. Yun Moon-hee, head of the Overseas FI Management Dept. at Korea Investment Trust Management, expressed that there is a limited potential for further increase in US long-term bond yields. He pointed out the constraints of the tariff imposition policies under the Trump administration, suggesting a reduction in concerns over long-term bond issuances. The relaxation of the SLR regulation is expected to allow major US banks to hold more government bonds, enabling an uptick in bond prices and a potential decrease in interest rates.
Meanwhile, Korea Investment & Securities Co. has launched the 'Korea Investment Global Strategic Multi-Income Fund,' which spreads investments across global bonds and structured products. Amid the rising US interest rates, which boost the appeal of income-generating assets, this fund offers a diversification opportunity for individual investors by investing in Goldman Sachs' bond funds and various US ETFs.
